Last weekend was the Serenity Forge Game Jam. Hundreds of game developers from all over the world created 32 games to submit to this. Voting for these games ends thi s Sunday! Vote for your favorite games now! I’ve only played about a third of them so far. Here’s my top three as of current.
Firefly is one of my top thee. The main theme of the game is to heal by using EMDR aka Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It’s to help people who have gone though emotional trauma by using eye movements to rewrite neural pathways in the brain. Even though it didn’t work when you hovered your mouse over the firefly to catch it, I did what the instructions said to do on the description of and it made me feel better. I’ve had a lot of stuff going on in my life right now, my anxiety levels are though the roof. Yet for a couple of seconds, I felt more relaxed.
Now when it comes to well built games that are fun to play, Pax Hortus has so far been the most fun. You’re in charge of a holy garden and have to heal the souls of ghosts and zombies, before they go to the underworld. It’s got a Plants vs. Zombies feel to it where you use plants to hep defend and to heal these souls. I had a lot of fun playing this game.
However a game that not only works, but fits the theme of this game jam, “healing” would have to be Homecoming. This is a game about choices and how we are defined by them. You are evicted from your home and you’re only allowed to take three things with you. You also reflect on each of the items while you do this.
I’m about half way though! I’ll keep progressing forward and playing the Serenity Forge game jam games. Remember to vote for your favorites before Sunday!
