This past Friday was the Denver Comic Con beer release party, where Denver Comic Con and Breckenridge Brewery released the newest convention beer, Snape-ricot. It was a night of celebrating, music, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.
Every year Denver Comic Con puts together this event to celebrate the unveiling of this year’s convention beer. I don’t know if everyone else has this feeling… but I always start to get excited for the upcoming convention when I go to this event. Between the sounds and the gathering of people who love Pop Culture… It just gets me thrilled.
This year the Denver Comic Con beer release party was at Stoney’s Bar and Grill, which was big enough to accommodate the huge crowd that turned out. On top of that, I was part of the group of 200 people to go thought the door and receive a free beer glass with the Snape-ricot art created by Frankie Serna on it.
I at first felt bad for my significant other since I dragged him out so early. We got to Stoney’s around 6:30pm when they didn’t hand out the glasses till 7:30pm and we had to wait in line an hour. There were others there who had waited much longer. In the end though, he had a blast and also got his first Denver Comic Con beer glass. He may also start collecting these glasses too! I have converted him.
On top of receiving a glass, we tried the beer. I’m not a heavy beer drinker; actually I don’t really drink beer at all… So I can’t tell you how the beer was, because to me it tasted like beer. I know… very descriptive.
As the night went on, so did the live music. The Gin Doctors and the Red 5 Band took to the stage. Not only did it get people moving, these bands also drew their own crowd of fans. It’s was so much fun to see the fans’ excitement as they danced around rocking out to the music.
The Denver Comic Con beer release party is always a fantastic time. I know that no matter what, I have a blast. I can’t wait for Denver Comic Con 2016 and can’t wait to see you all there!
