You Have to Burn the Rope Indie Game Review

You Have to Burn the Rope

This time I decided to play a quick game so I could pass out early after writing a blog about it. Quick is definitely the theme of this game, minus the end credits which are awesome. I did however enjoy playing, You Have to Burn the Rope.

You Have to Burn the Rope

The Game

In you Have to Burn the Rope, you play a small character with a bowler hat who has to run through a tunnel. While he walks though then there are instructions on how to beat the boss at the end of the tunnel marked clearly on the walls. When you get to the end of the tunnel, you climb the indents on the walls while grabbing a torch. You then jump across these ledges to the chandelier held up by a rope. When you touch the flame to the rope, it crashes down on the giant black blog thing called the Grinning Colossus. That’s the end of the game.

Or so you think. That’s when the end credits come up and it sings you a song about the adventures you just had.

The Feels

The game, was quick. It essentially pushed you forward to try to get you to the song. Though, I felt bad killing the Grinning Colossus. It’s so cute. Well, my definition of cute. Anyways, the song is the best part of this small indie game. Well, I also enjoyed the Grinning Colossus.

At first, the song recaps the adventure you just had calling you a hero for saving them all. Then it questions you about your next move. Maybe watch a video or refresh to play again? Well not for me! Naps were in my future. Though, if I were to have more time I would probably play it over and over just to hear and memorize the song. I’m not crazy, you’re crazy!

Either way, You Have to Burn the Rope may be a small game but it was pretty cute in my standards. Plus, it sings you a song. What’s not to like?!
